St. Albert is a suburban city along the Sturgeon River, northwest of Edmonton. It was founded in 1861 as a Métis settlement by Father Albert Lacombe, who built the Father Lacombe Chapel on Mission Hill, which still stands. It became a town in 1904, and the Canadian Northern Railway arrived in 1906.
